boat building

really enjoyed the process of physically building something in   a group.  bit frustrating at the end as thought it was finished and not sure what to be but being able to discuss as a group and the input from the other group in teh room allowed for us to create a fantastic final product.  very satisfying

sunday morning

Spinal rolls are great. Focused towards theme of the conference, nice vistas of Sydney. Wish we were doing it harbourside! Great to be working with someone from Western Australia and an Eagles fan. We noticed all of our physical offers were the same no matter what title we were given. oh well.

hanging on the tree of the vine

well, not a virgin blogger no more, great idea, a concept that will envelop the students’ interests and ability to converse on line!!  the first activity was fun, quick, to the point, great way of getting to know people (pity about the bridge - imagine if there was a tourist group climbing the bridge!!) we like the fact the dramatic licence was allowed (ie the flag on the ship was rolled up!!)  still upset about the swannies losing by 1 point but the activities allowed a momentary lapse of the pain of losing by having fun, enjoying the activity, thanks guys - twas great!!

The Antarctic

In our group of 6 we silently negotiated the building of a ship that initially had a blurred purpose (except boy did it make our arms sore!!!!!)

Then the observers told us what they saw - “ice breaker” “narrow” “determined”" a job to do and we’re going to do it”.

The ice breaker comment stood out and we set about  re framing our ship to become the ultimate ice breaker that we christened “The Antartic”

workshop

Our experience with warm ups was a fun ice breaker. We were asked to physically create images of various objects.

We then silently created an image of a ship of some sort. the idea was a collaborative effort. each group presented the image and the other group provided feedback which was useful in aiding us to develop our ideas further.
